So, it begins.
The Microsoft newbie is has been announced – “Zune,” an all-in-one ecosystem similar to the iPod-iTunes model.
It’s an intesting concept, in which Microsoft general manager of marketing Chris Stephenson said “We see a great opportunity to bring together technology and community to allow consumers to explore and discover music together.”
The fact that Zune appears to be a proprietory sytem of player+platform, with their own DRM (digital rights management), results in them effectively shutting out other download service compatibility, and WMA compatible devices – which can’t be good for the industry.
Alternatively, you can get on over to Yahoo! to get your personalized Jessica Simpson download, for a very reasonable $1.99. Now that’s the real way to stop people sharing music, personalize every download!
