What’s Your Favorite Mix in the RV Network?

RV_Network_Favorites
The RV Network has been live now for over 8 months, and I think it’s slowly but surely turning into wonderful resource for the dance music community. As a true lover of dance music, I can say I’ve gotten countless hours of enjoyment from the music in our Network, particularly the mixes. At this point, we’ve accumulated some phenomenal sets – across all of the sub-genres of electronic music.
.
As I sit here enjoying our Network mixes (hour after hour), I sometimes find myself wondering what mixes you’re enjoying the most. Of course, I can look at the download stats to see what’s popular, but that doesn’t really tell the whole story. So, I figured I’d write this post to ask you outright…
.
In your opinion, what is the best mix in the RV Network?
.
I’d like to hear back from you on this one. If you take a few minutes to share your favorites as a comment to this blog post, I’ll give you a free track ;)
.
To get the conversation started, I will actually share my ten favorite mixes from the Network. Some of my picks are old (mixes that bonded with over the years); others are more recent.
.
1. Adam Beyer’s Essential Mix – If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, then you’ve probably heard me rave about this mix. This is one of Eddie B’s all-time favorites! You can read my detailed thoughts about it here.
.
2. John Digweed Live at Homelands – Another incredible mix! Words can’t do justice to the tightness. I’ve written about this mix before in a separate blog post.
.
3. Jon Gaiser at 10 Days Off – Jon Gaiser is a seriously underrated DJ in my opinion, and this is a perfectly done mix. Some of the other M_Nus crew members, like Magda or Troy Pierce, seem to be much more visible, but Gaiser gets it done.
.
4. Ellen Allien’s RA Podcast – Obviously, Resident Advisor has been putting out some amazing podcasts. This episode by Ellen Allien is a real sleeper. To be honest, I wasn’t so impressed the first time I heard it, but at some point I got strung out on the mix like a junkie…and started playing it incessantly!
.
5. Kazell’s Kiss 100 Mix (1-29-06) – This is a mix that I came across back in 2006. It’s one of those sets where there’s something intangibly tight going on. Kazell is a super artist…which is why we were proud to have him create our re:produce 004 sample pack.
.
6. Victor Calderone’s Kiss 100 – I’ve gotten countless hours of enjoyment out of this mix. Victor Calderone holding it down in vintage NYC big club fashion…definitely gets you hyped up.
.
7. Ben Alan’s Fall Tech House Mix – Ben Alan is a cool, unassuming DJ from here in Louisville, and he’s definitely got skills. He uploaded this mix to our network, and I was blown away by it.
.
8. Sandwell District RA Podcast – Another killer episode of the RA podcast. Sandwell District is off the beaten path. They keep a low profile, and keep cranking the dope tunes.
.
9. Above and Beyond Essential Mix – Many industry afficionados shun and demean trance (in some cases rightly so). Nonetheless, I will continue my crusade for the cause of there being good trance out there. This Above and Beyond mix has treated me right over the years.
.
10. Eddie Richards Live at Absurd in LA – Sam uploaded this one, and it’s hot to death. I hadn’t heard much of Eddie Richards’ music, but I’m definitely impressed.
.
So there you have it…ten mixes that you can download for free and savor ;) Be sure to check these mixes out, and be sure to add a comment here to tell me your favorite mix in the RV Network!

Trance is still one of my favorite genres so my vote goes to Above and Beyond. They doing a great job with their labels Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep.

Has to be the Digweed mix. His best live set ever imo, and that’s saying something! The mixing is great throughout but the transition between the Mavi track and Kung Fu Sanchez really stands out for me.
