RE:PRODUCE audio sound sample pack out now…

Hi all,
Just wanted to first say thanks to the guys at Resonant Vibes for asking me to contribute to the RE:PRODUCE series. I had such a great time doing it and hope all the budding producers who pick it up find it helpful and useful! Check it out here: http://resonantvibes.com/shop/sample/373321-re-produce-002-stryke

Seth’s Picks of the Week 08-28-09

08-28-09 Top 10

A few nights ago over turntables and tunes, manhattans, mirth and mischief, my main man Sam and I were discussing our desire for a bit more…. diversity in the world of electronic music. There is SO much good music out there, but, as we all know, there are those tracks that just don’t do much… for 10 minutes. This week’s upload was brimming with all things weird and wild. I think you will enjoy what you hear (and buy). ;)

1. Perfect Naturalism (Original Mix)Tim XavierLTD400. All of the cuts on this release were in contention for the list, and Perfect Naturalism ended up fitting together with the rest of the tracks the best, so here it is.

2. Birthdays (Yvel & Tristan Remix)OrmatieProton Music. Birthdays, which happens to be the title of the release as well, is a nice combination of a few progressive mixes, and a few techy mixes. These songs could find their way into a variety of sets.

3. Galactic Space Bar (Dancefloor Dub)Jamie Jones featuring The Egyptian LoverCrosstown Rebels. ……..

4. Dark Horse (Original Mix)Derek HowellmicroCastle Music. This is not one of those tracks that meanders endlessly. I would have loved to throw in the whole track, but I would also love not to be the subject of legal action… I tried to pick a section of the song that is indicative of what’s to come. This track explodes!

5. Time Trial (Original Mix)TempmesterTree Hand Music. Time Trial just screams “get weird and have fun!”

6. Underground Life (Original Mix)Blind MindedTrapez LTD. The things I have been hearing from Trapez lately are speaking to me. Underground Life is all over the place, and it’s fantastic.

7. So What (Jalebee Cartel Remix)SoleadeVapour8 Recordings. A nice mix of tech and prog.

8. Sentimenkt (Original Mix)Miguel BastidaMalatoid Records. Malatoid was one of the first labels I made it a point to follow when I started at RV. Still following…

9. Alpha (Original Mix)MaRLoPangea Recordings. I suspect this will be heard frequently.

10. Black Moon (Original Mix)Luigi Rocca, Marshall, Libex303LOVERS. Hehehehe. Yes. Very much. Please. Thank you.

re:produce 002: Stryke – Out Now!

Techno and house samples from StrykeWe just released the second installment of our re:produce samples series!
.
To do the honors for re:produce 002, we turned to Miami-based producer Greg Chin (aka “Stryke“), someone who clearly had the resume for the job. Stryke has releases on top-shelf labels like Plastic City, Tronic, Ovum Recordings, Hooj Choons, and his own Three-O-Five Digital. He’s remixed artists like Depeche Mode, Pink, Danny Howells, Murk, and many others…and, to top it off, he’s a company spokesperson for Avid’s audio division (Digidesign/M-Audio/Sibelius) and a beta tester for Pro Tools and its A.I.R. virtual instrument division.
.
Stryke recorded and rendered the re:produce 002 samples using Pro Tools 8, with the synths and textures all recorded in C open across 5 octaves, from low to high. (For your convenience, he indicated the tempo of each loop in its file name.)
.
When asked for feedback about the re:produce: 002 pack, Stryke said:
.

“I dug deep into my personal synth and drum programming arsenal to share some of my unique sounds and drum patterns. The synth textures and bass sounds are all exclusive and designed by me. I used Digidesign’s Hybrid and Vacuum, as well as a few other rare goodies. I’ve created new drum patterns at a couple of different bpms, which can be easily used in your projects as well. I hope you enjoy using this re:produce pack as much as I enjoyed creating it for you!”

.
If you want to check out a preview of the re:produce 002: Stryke pack, just click the play icon below ;)
.
I’d definitely like to thank Stryke for assembling this quality pack of samples. With his installment, the re:produce series is continuing to move forward in proper fashion…and rest assured, we’ve got a string of other re:produce packs in the pipeline from artists that will pique your interest!

New Site Updates

Since my last post, we have made quite a few improvements to the ResonantVibes.com web site. However, most of the changes are less than obvious, so I’ll use this forum to highlight the more exciting features and fixes.
.
Shopping Carts
.
One of the most frequents points of feedback we received was related to the shopping cart. Many of you would come to the site, fill up your cart, then go about your non-RV business (apparently, such business exists. We’ll take your word for it). Then, after being away from RV for some time, you would come back to the site only to be greeted by a mysteriously empty shopping cart.  Obviously, we were missing something important. After listening to your feedback, we’ve retooled the way the shopping cart works. I could bore you with a great deal of tech-speak about browser sessions, but I’ll spare you. The important part is that your cart will now stick around indefinitely, so you are free to go about your business. When you come back, your cart will be waiting for you in exactly the same state that you left it.
.
Saved For Later / Wish List / Hold Bin
.
Another bit of feedback we’ve heard is about a wish list feature. Sometimes, when browsing our vast, blisteringly awesome inventory of the world’s best electronic music, you’ll stumble across a track or sample pack that you like, but are not quite ready to purchase at that time. Enter the Saved For Later. With this feature, you’ll be able keep music in a temporary holding pattern, an experience with which anyone who has traveled by commercial air lately will be intimately familiar. Your Saved For Laters will stick around until you move them to your cart or remove them. So, feel free to fill that thing up. Keep in mind, though, that for now, you can only access your Saved For Laters from your cart. So, you have to be logged in to use this feature.
.
On a related note, be sure to login or register an account with us while shopping. If you fill up your cart, but forget to login or register, we won’t have a way of associating your cart with you (except for the devily browser session, which I promised not to talk about. Needless to say, it just doesn’t cut the mustard). So, one more gentle reminder: For an optimum shopping experience at RV, please remember to login or register before moving on.
.
Media Player
.
You didn’t think we’d stop working on the media player after the slew of changes detailed in my last post, did you? Of course not. Since that post, we’ve added a few more features, some of which might seem obvious.

  • The ability to delete the track to which you’re listening. Previously, you couldn’t delete the current track. Now you can. Take that, current track!
  • The ability to delete your entire playlist. Now you can click Clear List Button to remove all of the tracks from your player.
  • Key commands, woohoo! Now, your RV media player responds to key commands:
    • Space bar : Play/Pause
    • ‘m’ : Mute/Un-mute
    • ‘p’ : Pause/Play
    • ↑  : Previous Track
    • ←  : Previous Track
    • ↓ : Next Track
    • → : Next Track
  • Scrolling: The player now auto-scrolls to the currently playing track, but the view-port includes a couple of tracks prior and several after.
  • Total Time: You asked, we delivered. Many of you had asked that the player give an indication of the total time of a track. Now, although the player plays two-minute previews of ours store tracks, it will display the total time of the full-length track. We don’t have the length data for every track in our collection, but we’re calculating that now. So, if you find a track that doesn’t give you the actual total time, rest assured that it will soon be fixed.

.
Various Sneaky Treats
.
You may have also noticed several other new elements popping up on our site. In several of the genre pages (e.g., the Tech House genre page), we now show a list of featured labels at the top of the page. This is a hand-picked selection of labels that we think best exemplify the genre. As time goes on, we’ll feature different labels in addition to the old favorites. This is yet another way that we can share with you what we’re listening to.
.
Furthermore, on the genre pages, we also now present a top 10 list of tracks for that genre. Previously, we showed a list of our top 10 sellers across the whole site, but decided that you might like to see results specific to the genre you are browsing. Feel free to let us know what you think of this.
.
Similar to the featured labels section, we have a featured sample packs section at the top of the samples browser page. Right now, you may notice that this section heavily features Resonant Vibes Sample Packs, like re:produce 001: Komposit, the exclusive new $10 sample pack by Komposit/Habersham or Habersham’s SoundTheory 01. Again, we use this section to call attention to hot and or exclusive sample packs that you might not otherwise find. While I’m on the subject, I encourage you to check out the re:produce 001 sample pack as soon as possible. For about the price of lunch, you can get your hands on 124MB of some sweet techno, house , electro and dub samples.
.
That’s about it for now. Stay tuned for more updates about the site. And, as always, please feel free to share your comments and feedback with us.
.

Seth’s Picks of the Week 08-22-09

08-22-08 Picks
.
At the risk of beating a dead horse, it is truly a pleasure to get to dig through all the music coming to the site. We have our old standards, and it seems I discover something every week from our new labels and artists. If the tracks on this list don’t start moving, I think it’s safe to assume that the rapture is right around the corner.
.
1. Transform (Marko Fürstenberg Remix)Luke HessEchocord. I’m a sucker for starting off a mix nice and smooth, and does Transform ever get the job done. Good good and good.
.
2. Orchestra Man (Original Mix)EmbargaaDance N Dust Records. A slow hypnotizer. (My old pal Mr. JP Spellchecker informed me that hypnotizer is not a word. Apologies to the linguists in the crowd)
.
3. No More Worries (Dimitry Liss Remix)ElectroaspectFrisky Records. A good track on Frisky, no. way… ;)
.
4. Starlet Holes (Original Mix)Zeyad4Clubrecords. Intension, the album from which Starlet Holes comes, is good start to finish. As your attorney, I advise you to check out the rest of it.
.
5. You (Original Mix)Takashi WatanabeHypnotic Room. A real winner here. As I don’t put more than one release from a label in each list, I had to pick Wantabe’s You EP, but Echos EP made the short list and warrants investigation.
.
6. Robots Can Feel (Original Mix)EsseFutureaudio. A track called Robots Can Feel could have gone terribly wrong, but there’s just enough of a robotic vibe to give the track a fitting feel without crossing into Mr. Roboto territory.
.
7. Aube (Original Mix)IgnossHarkee Records. Aube comes from the first release from both Ignoss and Harkee records to hit RV – a welcomed addition.
.
8. Taurine on Sunday (Original Mix) Roland M. DillTrapez. Of the hundreds of tracks I heard preparing this list, Taurine was the first that I knew was going to make it. Great techy feel with something unique happening with the melodies.
.
9. Dr. Lupo (Piatto Remix)Ace Ventura, RockyEchoes Records. The last two tracks on the list should make any techno lover happy. Goods…Delivered. DJs – play this record. Dancing will most assuredly ensue.
.
10. Sambit (Original Mix)PatriqueBacks/ash. Techy funky glitchy goodness.

RV’s “Sensibly Priced WAVs” Campaign

.
HOW TO BE STUPID #5: DRESS UP IN PINK BUNNY SUITS AND ROMP WITH HOT CHICKS
.

.
.
This is a blog post I couldn’t resist writing…
.
I don’t know if you’ve seen our “Sensibly Priced WAVs” ads yet, but I crack up every time I look at these banners (see above) :D
.
We launched this campaign to let the dance music community know that we’re offering WAV and MP3 downloads for $1.50. We’ve worked hard to maintain this pricing scheme because we don’t think it makes sense for you to pay more than $1.50 for your dance music downloads!
.
Of course, we wanted to present our campaign message in an interesting way…so we asked Sam (our creative brain) to cook something up. When he showed me the idea he came up with – i.e. the image of these dudes dressed up in bunny suits messing around with hot chicks – I burst out laughing. In fact, our whole team has gotten some good laughs from this one ;) …and I should give you a heads up by saying Sam has some other ridiculous images in the pipeline showing more ways of being stupid.
.
One thing I really about this campaign is that it deviates from the norm. I’ve spent countless hours on dance music websites, and after a while, all the banner ads start to look the same…they promote events or new releases, saying such and such is going to happen on such and such date and then they list some big names associated with the project…we wanted to take a different approach…to spice things up a little bit for you.
.
We hope you take note of our campaign message and find the delivery entertaining ;)

rv_cast 006 mixed by Sam Gracie

rv_cast_006_blogThis is the latest episode of the Resonant Vibes podcast mixed by yours truly. Recorded last week as always in a live session with a single take, it’s a straight forward DJ set featuring a bunch of cool tunes from the site.
.
It’s starts off pretty deep and techy, before moving into more of a housier vibe. From there it’s back to the tech before stepping things up and moving firmly into techno. I had the chance to work in a few of Dub Taylors “Human Response” tracks towards the end of the mix, that are somewhere between DJ tools and full tracks, and that just flow really well together.
.
.
Anyway, It’s not too far from what you’d hear when I play live and I hope you enjoy it.
.

8. Alex Zelenka Descendant (Lee Curtiss Remix) [The Source]

re:produce | Innovation through Sound

Hello everyone out there in the land of Resonance :D
.
We are in the midst of exciting times for producers, artists, engineers and musicians! The launch of our innovative new Audio Sample Pack series, re:produce, has just hit the (digital) shelves!
.
The concept is revolutionary: bring you the sounds of today’s most highly respected artists, sounds and artists that you will only find on Resonant Vibes, at an inexpensive price with a regular release schedule on average of every 2 weeks. It’s a chance to borrow, learn from, and be inspired by leading artists, giving you the opportunity to finally answer a question we find ourselves asking over and over: ‘How do I get that result out of my music?’
.
We launched the series with my latest project, Komposit, leading off with an array of Tech and House sounds, fit for a multitude of styles and settings, ranging from 122-128 BPM. These are sounds I take with me on the road for my Live PA performances across the globe, as well as staple sounds appearing in some of my releases alongside Bruno Pronsatto, Touane, Rift, Mikael Stavostrand, Mark Henning and more. Be sure and check out the preview clip because at only $10.00 there really is little room for doubt in purchasing over 120 Megs of high quality sounds, including an NI Battery Kit and pre-mapped Ableton files!
.
Listen to ‘re:produce 001: Komposit’ Preview Clip
.
And don’t forget to please leave us a comment on the sample pack page letting us know how pleased you are with your purchase!
.
Our forthcoming artists in the series have the strongest reputations in crafting some of the best produced music we’ve ever heard, so if you like what you hear from re:produce 001 this is just the beginning. Be sure and check back for the next installments!
.
See you in just a couple weeks and enjoy the sound :)

Out Now Exclusively From RV

Out Now Exclusively From RV

Seth’s Picks of the Week 08-14-09

08-14-09 PIcks

It’s that time again. It’s becoming more and more difficult to make these lists. The sheer volume of music to peruse is getting out of hand (a good problem to have). This week was discotastic. I toyed around with making an all disco top ten, but I try to walk a line between what I like and what other people might enjoy, and decided against it. There is disco to be found, but the list transitions to some proggy territory and ends on a techy note.

1. Six (Original Mix)Tim TohPhilpot Records. Six has just a hint of a Latin feel. Fun track.

2. Retrofusion (Original Mix)Demarkus LewisThe Source. This funky groover will suck you in fast.

3. Perpetual Flow (Original Mix)Vernon & DaCostaRobsoul. Robsoul churns out a winner yet again. The bass in Perpetual Flow is reason enough to pick it up.

4. Disco Dust (Original Mix)ZeeDevoted Records. Disco Dust? Yes please. ;) Great basslines and a juice harp clavinet that sits just right in the mix give Disco Dust that feel of soul from the days of old.

5. Todash (Original Mix)Jairus MillerSource Of Gravity. Todash, aside from being a great track, has enough funk to be quite useful when moving from disco to something more deep and proggy (which happens around the 14 minute mark).

6. Again (Dejan Dex Remix)Denny TrajkovTokyo Red Recordings. At the risk of sounding foolish telling people how to spend money amid tough economic times, buy every track on this record.

7. The Summer is Comming (UGLH Remix)Tex-RecCVM Records. Big track. Big. Just when you think you’re safe… BAM.

8. Graviton (Johannes Heil Mix)D. DigglerResopal Schallware. This compilation of great music is worth several looks and listens. I could have easily picked others for the top ten, but there’s just something about Graviton.

9. Magic Monkey (Original Mix)Peter GunAir Snare Records. Magic Monkey? Come on. Who doesn’t want to hear a track called Magic Monkey?

10. Dolphin (Original Mix)SchubertAurora Music. It’s just this man’s opinion, but I think I saved the best for last. It isn’t the biggest speaker blower – but it’s at a good tempo and steady – and would keep me groovin’ along happily from start to finish.

re:produce 001: Komposit – Launch of New RV Samples Series!

Techno and house samples from Komposit

I’ve been looking forward to writing this post for a while…

RV has been quiet on the sample pack front, but that just changed!

This evening, we released a new sample pack from Komposit (Damon Fonooni, aka Habersham). This pack is the first in a new series of RV samples called re:produce.

Before I go any further in writing this post, I want to point out that we’re selling the re:produce 001: Komposit pack for only $10.00! That’s 124 MB of uber-tighteous-quality samples for the price of about 4 tracks on other (overpriced) download sites!

Our aim in launching the re:produce series was to add a fresh, unique product line to the samples market – which is hard given the number of new packs being released these days. Our re:produce series will be a sequence of smaller sample packs, engineered by highly respected producers, and offered for an irresistible bargain price. Each sample pack in the re:produce series will contain roughly 100 MB of sounds in 24-bit WAV file format and will be complete with ready-to-use practical bonuses like Battery kits, pre-mapped Abelton files, MIDI data files, etc.

We’ve already lined up the next few packs in the re:produce series, and we think you’ll be quite pleased with the artists we chose to create them…but enough about the re:produce series as a whole, let me say a bit about this first installment from Komposit…

To kick the re:produce series off in proper fashion, Komposit engineered an array of fresh techno and house sounds. His re:produce 001 pack includes beat loops, staple synth sounds, and a basic Komposit One-Hit pack with Battery kit. These sounds are some of Komposit’s most valued gems for worldwide Live PA performances. The beat loops and drum samples range in tempo from 122 to 128 bpm and are perfect for modern house, techno, and electro production. The synth and noise sounds have warm undertones of dub techno and house along with tonal sounds fit for any genre of driving dance floor tunes.

For your listening pleasure (and to tempt you), I’ve posted the preview for this sample pack below. This clip was handcrafted by Komposit to give you an inkling of the potential of the re:produce 001 pack.

Enjoy!

Eddie B
