Seth’s Picks of the Week – 17th of October 2009

10-17-09 Top 10
1. Brunchin Mesclum (Original Mix)JobbPercusa. One of the first electronic albums I bought was St. Germain’s Tourist. This track takes me to a similar place.
.
2. Roswell (Original Mix)DualtonVivid. I have nothing insightful or descriptive to say about this one. I like it – end of story.
.
3. Questions (Original Mix)Maik LoewenNiveous Records. This is a great track on a great album. The combination of the claps and that single strummed chord are great, and then the beat comes in – money.
.
4. Bulgaria (Original Mix)Nick CurlyCécille. I’ve been looking forward to 1.3 for some time, and the bass in Bulgaria alone made it worth the wait. If this doesn’t make you want to dance, I don’t know what will.
.
5. Hit Em Where It Hurts (Original Mix)DJ SneakRobsoul. Speaking of bass….
.
6. Wide Awake (Original Mix)SolabFortek. Can you use the adage broken record on an electronic music blog? The bass is great in this one too – and then some synths come after you… (Not the evildoing kind)
.
7. Within You (Rob Glennon’s Night Freak Version)Mark O’SullivanNice & Nasty. Speaking of synths, this track comes from one of a few recent Mark O’Sullivan records, in which they are used to great extent without getting at all banal.
.
8. To Be (Original MIx)Little NancyCosmo Deep Records. Little Nancy gets a little nasty on this one. There is just enough of an electro grind to make it that right kind of dirty.
.
9. Torque (Murat Kilic Remix)Felix NagorskySUBSONIC MUSIC. Torgue brings it back a little towards St. Germain territoy, but then get’s techy.
.
10. Futurama (Original Mix) - GregorhythmeCityfox. There are parts of Futurama that I wouldn’t call whimsical, but they’re not too far off. Still a very danceable track.
