As regular readers of our blog will know we’re based in Louisville, Kentucky. Most people tend to raise an eyebrow when we tell them that, at which point they seem to ask about the scene here. Truth be told it’s not the clubbing capital of the world — hard to believe, I know — but occasionally we get to have a good party, and Halloween is one of those times. .
The Hellhouse parties have become a bit of a Halloween tradition around town with the fifth installment now wrapped up. Woody McBride and Stewart Walker were headlining and I got to warm up for Stewart which was cool and Jason Shelton was the opener. It’s not often I get to play to a home crowd on a decent system these days, so I had a blast. Stewart has also engineered the next re:produce sample pack for us so it’s been good to get to hear him play in person. .
The whole party was filmed in HD which means we’ll be able to post some of the sets when they become available, so keep your eyes out. The gallery is a little more indulgent than some of the others I’ve shot as the party was full of old friends, elaborate costumes and a fine selection of beers. Enjoy! .
Here’s a bumper gallery of pictures from this weekend’s HARD Haunted Mansion party in Los Angeles, CA. Judging from the photos it was a killer event with no shortage of skimpy outfits, good times, candy bracelets and good people. .
If you were there you’d have had the chance to check out acts like DeadMau5, 2ManyDJs, A-Trak, The Bloody Beetroots, Justice, The Basement Jaxx, Crookers, Major Lazer, Modeselektor, Zombie Nation, Steve Aoki and a bunch of others. .
If you were there, what did you think of the event? Can you see yourself in the gallery below? Drop us a line using the comments below!
Aaaaah, techno. Or trance. Or kick-ass nu-wave disco sorta stuff. Or proggy-techyness. What ever you wanted to hear it was there to be heard! .
.
Another great day was had by all on Randall’s Island for the second day of the Electric Zoo weekender. It was shaping up to be something special with a really strong line up on all 4 stages, which had you covered regardless of what style of dance music you were after. .
Having arrived a little late on Sunday I didn’t have a chance to check out everyone that was playing in the early afternoon. I’m a bit gutted not to have heard Lindström and Prins Tomas, Heidi, or Audion, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles! .
Anyway, I did a whistle stop tour of the festival starting off with Adam Beyer on the Sunday School stage, before catching some of Desyn Masiello’s set in the Riverside Arena. Then it was over to the Groove Discoteque for some of Tom Middleton’s set where he debuted his latest track called “New York” which of course went down a treat. .
After a little while I bee-lined it back over to the Sunday School stage to check out some of Steve Bug’s set who was handling business of course. From there I made the trek down to the Main Stage—grabbing a cameo snap of Richie Hawtin who was posing with fans—to catch the end of Markus Schultz set and the start of Ferry Corsten’s. Time to get your trance on! .
Having got my trance-quotia for the day, I made my way back up the hill to see what James Holden was up to. He was playing some really deep, slightly esoteric grooves with immaculate mixing and solid track selection. The production quality in the Riverside was top-notch, with intelligent lights, lasers and strobes. I spent a while taking it all in, and the lighting crew did a great job for this set—as they did all weekend—by setting the visual tone to fit perfectly with the vibe of the music being played. I have an extra appreciation for good quality lighting, having worked as a lighting designer myself. Look out for the picures from Holden’s set to see what I’m talking about. .
I stopped into the Grove Disco tent one more time to get down to the LCD Soundsystem/DFA duo of James Murphy and Pat Mahoney delivering a badass DJ set for a really funky crowd, with plenty of ass shaking on display! Then it was back over to the Sunday School tent for a little bit of Victor Calderone, who had the responsiblity of warming up for Richie Hawtin. I think the crowd was well beyond warm when Hawtin took to the stage, but in true Hawtin style he brought things down ever so gradually before building it all the way back up and smacking you every-which-way with his brand of minimal and full-fat techno. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any stage shots of Hawtin as this was the set I put the camera down and danced to! I hope you enjoy the pictures. .
As Eddie has already posted a great overview of our first day at Electric Zoo so I’m not going to say much more, other than the weather was perfect, the crowd were completely up for it, and the music was delivered with the standard Integral flair: ridiculously loud, crystal clear with gut-wrenching bass! (Integral do the sound for Made Event.) Here’s an exclusive gallery of the first day at the festival – if you see yourself, leave a comment! Don’t forget to check out our electronic music network where you can find mixes by many of the Electric Zoo artists – all free to download!
It was a beautiful day as we arrived in Chicago, and the scene was set. Eddie and I were about to embark on a 12-hour marathon consisting of some chunky day time beats delivered smoothly by the listed residents and Ms. Anja Schneider. Other team players included a fine selection of strong drinks, a BBQ pit and a crowd of up-for-it party-goers all dressed in sports gear. Well, it’s was the Varsity Allstars party!
. What’s more you should keep an eye on the blog over the next few days as we post more great content from the event, including the video. A big thanks goes to the listed crew for yet again handling business and see you in ‘10! .
Better a little late than never; here are the photos I took at Forecastle. A big thanks to all the DJs and other people that helped at the Ocean Stage over the weekend. The band shown on the main stage is Pretty Lights who also rocked it. .
After a hugely successful Miami party to close out the week, Hot Natured returns with plenty of tricks up their collective sleeves and some surprise special guests too. . Hot Natured will be closing out the Movement weekend in style on the rooftop patio of Exodus Lounge with Jamie Jones leading the charge. He’ll be offered the trusted support of Lee Curtis and Lee Foss as the three of them dig deep to deliver all the all the 80’s funk jams, disco, and classics you can handle. .
Downstairs sees a Culprit and Autobrennt label/agency night, with a little help from Paxahau to take you places only appropriate for Monday-night-into-Tuesday-morning crowd. Ryan Crosson from Wagon Repair will be stopping in to play alongside Droog, John Johr, Andrew Kelly and Clovis to round out this very long festival weekend. And let’s not forget that there will be a few special guest popping-in through out the course of the night! .
It’s great to see a quality party happening on Monday night for people that aren’t quite ready to knock it on the head. Sunday night is already rammed full of almost a dozen official Movement after parties, and the choice is a tad overwhelming for anyone wanting to do something that night. RV recommends the Night Moves party if you’re still undecided for Sunday. .

It was billed as the 24 hour party, but in reality it was the final 24 hours of a very long week for a lot of people. We got there to pick up our wrist bands just before midnight on Saturday just as things were getting fired up. We didn’t stay long though, having decided to come back later to enjoy more of the day-time sets.
.
On our return, we heard the party long before we saw it. We made our way to the entry and we only had to wait for a couple of minutes to get in – unlike James Holden who was was peering inside having to wait a good deal longer while he tried to locate someone to get him in.
.
The garden terrace was coming under frequent and torrential rain showers on Sunday which kept shutting it down but things were getting going again when we got there with Guy Gerber on the decks. The area was adjourned with palm trees, massive speaker stacks, hedgerows, school buses, ice cream vans and very frazzled party-goers. Exactly what you’d expect to find on a Sunday afternoon during WMC!
.
Inside the party was in full-force. The warehouse was packed full of a drenched crowd of people getting down to the beats of Ida Engberg. I think that the vibe inside was electric due to the outside being shut down because of the rain, so that definitely played a part in making things kick-off inside. There’s not much more to be said about it really, the pictures sum it up pretty well.
.
The sound from Integral was top notch, and as Mike Bindra and Laura de Palma from Made Event said in an earlier interview the wooden framing did warm up the sound. The space was really cool with a central skylight running the length of the room, with various bits of intelligent lighting hung from the wooden roof trusses to create an interesting blend of old and new. They had brought in some large mirrors for the party, and positioned them around the room which really added to the feel of the place.
.
All-in-all this year’s SSFD felt like a warehouse party and I think that was the idea. Since when do you go to Miami and experience a proper warehouse party? A city which is known for it’s lavish clubs and expensive decors got flipped on it’s head for 24 hours. It was never going to be like Pawn Shop, and it never tried to be. The true blooded electronic music crowd we’re out in full force; with big DJs and fans all partying together to unrelenting beats provided by the worlds best techno artists. Everyone was long overdue for this party and it was the climax to an amazing week of good times with new friends. It was for the people who annually descend to Miami in search of the best underground electronic music the world has to offer, put on by the people who know know where to find it.
.
Another gallery for you to check out and this time it’s the second party listed Productions and RV co-presented during WMC – the Cécille and Oslo Records showcase at the Victor Hotel.
.
I got to the party a little late, just as it was all kicking off. I heard from several people there that it was the best music they had heard all week, and the sets I heard certainly lived up to that. Great house music on great sound systems in a beautiful venue.
.
With the likes of Sasha, Loco Dice, Barem, Martin Buttrich, Cassy, Lee Burridge, Three, Steve Bug, Anja Schneider, and Mathias Tanzamann all stopping in at the event I wanted to give a big thanks to Gunita and Jonathan from listed for all their hard work to make this event such a success!
