WAVs and MP3s for $1.50 – Why pay more?!

WAV and MP3 Are you paying more than $1.50 to download electronic music tracks? If so, then stop it!
.
I don’t usually go on advertising rants in my blog posts, but this one is long overdue…
.
This week, we’ve added over 2,000 tracks to our store from solid labels, and every one of those tracks is available in WAV and 320 kbps MP3 format (whatever your pleasure) for $1.50!
.
Of course, I’m not going to try to pull the wool over your eyes here…I know that we don’t have as much catalog as Beatport; but we will! Our upload volume has been growing, and it will increase in leaps and bounds in the weeks ahead. We’ve signed deals with some major players, and we’ve completely overhauled our upload process to accommodate much higher volume.
.
We’re already putting up tracks from solid labels. For example, this week’s upload included releases from labels like the ones below.
.
……Ambiosphere…………………….dPulse Recordings…………………….Mupa
……Bedrock………………………….Drum Central Recordings……………..Naked Lunch Records
……BIT Records Mexico……………Flow Vinyl…………………………..MMNew Era Digital
……Boxer Recordings………………Frisky Records……………………….MNext Dimension Music
……Bugeyed Records………………Iboga Records………………………….Outside the Box
……Christian Records………………Kansak Recordings………….MMM….Progressive Grooves Records
……Cubic Digital…………………….Kompakt……………………MM………Proton Music
……Cyclical Tracks………………….Kung Fu Dub Recordings……………..Salted Music
……DeepLife Records………………Lights Out……………………………….Stranamente Digital
……Digitalo Enterprises…………….Lofi……………………………………….Xela Digital

.
So, being the intelligent electronic music shopper that you are, it just doesn’t make sense to pay more than $1.50 for your WAV or MP3 downloads.
.
We’ve worked hard over the years to maintain our price structure…because we think it’s fair. Actually, we have a pretty simple idea – one that makes good sense to us. Namely, if we keep the price reasonable, you’ll probably buy more music than if we get greedy and charge more. This will translate into good sales for our artists, and we’ll do well ourselves…ultimately, we all win!
.
Ok, so that’s my rant…now promise me you’re not going to overpay anymore for your tracks :)

Quality Progressive Mix from Noyd

NoydI’ve got another quality progressive mix for you…This one comes from an artist who seems to be quietly going about his business and putting out solid tunes. His name is Noyd, and he’s originally from Prizren (in Kosovo). He started getting into electronic music at age 14, and he eventually teamed up with an artist named Junitoshi to form a production duo called, “Vega.” Eventually the two went their separate ways, and Noyd got his first solo release, Shapeless, signed with the German progressive house label, Jetlag Digital, in 2008.
.
This mix I’ve posted by Noyd is a real ear pleaser. It’s also what I like to call a “sleeper” – meaning it’s the kind of mix that would have been easy to miss because there’s not been a lot of buzz around it. It’s vintage progressive house…melodic, dreamy, and emotive.
.
Enjoy!

A Few New Labels Coming Soon…

This is a quick post to let blog readers know that we have some really quality labels arriving on the site soon! I’m excited about the this batch of labels, as there’s some outrageously good music being put out by them.
.
Quality new content is one of the areas we’re focusing on, and this is just the start of what’s to come. We’re in talks with some other distributors who’s content will improve the quality of our catalog drastically.
.
One of the things we understand at rv is if we can offer the same content as other bigger stores at competitive prices through a well designed site then it’s only a matter of time before people catch on… I mean who wouldn’t want $1.50 WAV downloads? :)

Save the Cannibals NYC Event + BLAZIN’ HOT Mix from Deepak Sharma

Save the Cannibals

I’m writing this post to share my weekend plans and to share a Blazin’ Hot mix from Deepak Sharma…

As far as the weekend plans go, I’m headed up to New York City, and I’ll be attending the Save the Cannibals event on Saturday, April 18th!

Save the Cannibals has really been making waves of late with gigs and/or podcasts from the likes of Steve Bug, Adultnapper, Matthew Dear, Cassy, Lee Burridge, Martin Landsky, Dennis Ferrer, Sebo K, Seth Troxler, and others.

The headliner for this Saturday’s event will be Paco Osuna. Paco’s cannibal debut is highly anticipated, especially since a snowstorm canceled his last NYC gig. Paco is a Spaniard, and he’s reputed for his "impeccable programming and creative use of effects." Deepak Sharma, manager of Hidden Recordings, will be playing the opening set, and he’ll be showcasing a slew of unreleased cuts from his imprint. Bottom Line: This should be a solid event!

If you’re in NYC this weekend and you’d like to get your head pounded by some underground techno, just swing by. The party starts at 10pm at Rebel (251 West 30th Street). If you want more details about the event, just click here.

Deepak SharmaNow it’s on to my second reason for writing this post…I’ve got a great mix for you. This one comes from Deepak Sharma.

I’m particularly proud to highlight this mix because it’s going to be the next Save the Cannibals podcast, and it’s been available in the RV network for weeks!

In this mix, Deepak maintains an irresistable, laidback, techy vibe from start to finish. The transitions are clean, and the programming feels just right. I’ve listened to it a bunch of times, and I think Deepak’s playing his part in helping NYC carve out it’s own techno sound. There’s a uniqueness to the set, and it’s got me quite excited to hear Deepak and Paco Osuna play on the Integral sound system at the upcoming Save the Cannibals gig!

So, you know the drill from here…click the play icon below, turn the volume up, and Enjoy!

PS If you’re digging Deepak’s mix, you can click here to give it a rating or post a comment about it.

Killer Mix – Dean Mushin’s Get the Curse 055

A while back, Sam introduced me to another killer mix that I’ve been meaning to share on our blog. This one comes from the London-based artist Dean Mushin, and it’s a real sleeper!

This mix is the 55th installment of the Get the Curse podcast, and it’s an outstanding work in my opinion. I actually hadn’t even heard of Dean, so I definitely wasn’t on the lookout for his GTC mix. When I heard Sam playing it, my ears were immediately pricked.

Electronic music never ceases to amaze me…you can spend everyday following the scene and still be completely taken off guard by a tight mix from an undiscovered artist!

This mix is kinda laid back, kinda groovy…housey and minimalistic. It’s the kind of mix that you can play on repeat. Just click the play icon below, and you’ll see what I mean ;)

On a different note, you may have noticed that Dean Mushin isn’t the only person pictured above. Louisa Page is also included in the photo because she and Dean produce together under the name Bearweasel. They have a handful of EPs on labels like Supernature, 8bit, and Tsuba. They’ve gotten support from the likes of Steve Bug, Akufen, Serafin, D’Julz, Motorcitysoul, Audiofly, Steve Lawler, Luke Solomon, and Peace Division. Toward the end of this year, they should be putting out a live set. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for that one.

Upload Your Music to Get Rewards on May 1st!

Electronic Music Network

The RV Network

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again… ;) Our goal at Resonant Vibes is to share the joy of electronic music with as many people as possible. With that aim in mind, we created a network in our version 2.0 website that allows you to upload your mixes and tracks so that other people can download and enjoy them.

Rewards for DJs and Producers

On May 1st, we’re going to reward the DJ and producer who have uploaded the most popular mix and track to our network…

[DJ Rewards] We’re going to write an in-depth profile about the winning DJ on our blog, and we’re going to give him or her a $100 credit in our shop. We’re also going to air his or her winning mix on the Shake Down podcast, so it will be heard by more than 30,000 subscribers!

[Producer Rewards] We’re going to give a $100 shop credit to the winning producer, and we’re going to sign his or her track to our own RV Digital Recordings label! We will then make the track available for sale and promote it – initially in our shop and eventually in download stores worldwide!

We’re going to be giving these rewards to DJs and producers on a regular basis (every few weeks or so). If you’re a DJ, we want you to have this exposure so it’s easier for you to get gigs and further recognition. If you’re a producer, we want to give you a shot at making some money with your music.

How to Upload

Are you ready to upload some tunes now? If so, just login on our site, and go to the “My RV” section. Next, use our custom file uploader to upload your mix or track. It’s super easy! You’ll just need to enter the title and your artist name and some appropriate tags (for genre, etc.). After that, click the upload button, and watch the magic happen.

Once your track or mix has been uploaded, the whole RV community will be able to download it, rate it, and post comments about it.

Benefit for Fans

The RV network isn’t just about promoting DJs and producers; it’s also about allowing electronic music fans to enjoy quality tunes! If you don’t DJ or produce, we still welcome you to get involved in our community. You can download all of the promo mixes and tracks for free! While you’re at it, we invite you to contribute to the community by rating the mixes and tracks and posting comments about them. We want you to tell us which DJs and producers deserve our recognition.

Bottom Line

We launched the RV network to benefit the whole electronic music community: DJs, producers, and fans…so dig in, and Enjoy!

Chloe Harris Adds Killer Free Mix to RV Network

Chloe Harris

I’ve got another great mix for you here…and it’s really fulfilling to share this one for several reasons!

This mix came from Chloe Harris. It’s her Audio Therapy guest mix, and yes, it’s Blazin’ Hot :D

Before I talk more about Chloe, I want to point out that this mix came from the Free RV 2.0 Network! This is a big deal in my eyes. We built our network so that electronic music fans (like me) would have a place to download quality free mixes. I listen to electronic mixes all day long everyday, and I know I’m not the only one doing that. Hearing a mix like this on our network lets me know RV is making progress toward its purpose; namely, spreading the joy of electronic music.

I’ve written on previous occasions about Chloe Harris – specifically about one of her mixes for John Digweed’s Kiss 100 show. I’ve always had a lot of respect for her music and style. She’s one of those few DJs who gets it done for me with every mix. I also admire the way her sound has evovled…I’ve been listening to her mixes for years. Her sound has changed, but it’s never lost its tightness.

Do yourself a favor…click the play icon below to check out Chloe’s mix.

While you’re at it, Go Here, and give the mix a thumbs up rating…and post some comments about it.

Goosebumped Mix from Fady Ferraye

It’s the weekend, so it’s time for me to share another quality mix. I’ve gotten plenty of enjoyment from this one. It’s Fady Ferraye’s Goosebumped mix – quality progressive tunes here.

For those who don’t know much about Fady, he was born in Beirut, Lebanon, and he’s now based in Amsterdam. He describes his style as diverse and open-minded – a progressive blend of twisted house, atmospheric minimal, and orgasmic techno. He’s played alongside a number of the big boys like Dave Seaman, Sander Kleinenberg, Deep Dish, and others. Fady’s definitely an artist who gets the job done.

"It’s about the music that gives you goosebumps…" – Fady

Enjoy the mix!

Free Toes in the Sand Track – “Free Fall” by Michael and Levan

Free Fall Toes in the Sand Recordings

I’ve written several posts expressing my positive sentiments about Toes in the Sand Recordings, and now I’ve got an excuse to write another one.

As yet another benevolent gesture toward the progressive community, Toes has given RV the right to provide an Exclusive Free Download of a track called "Free Fall" by Michael and Levan…and it’s a dandy!

For those who don’t already know, Michael and Levan are brothers based in Tbilisi, Georgia (in Eastern Europe). These guys have been steadily making a name for themselves by getting support from the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, dPen, DJ Tarkan, and Eelke Kleijn. Michael and Levan emerged on the progressive scene back in 2006 with a release Tilth Music.

The track "Free Fall" is right in line with what you’d expect from a Toes in the Sand release – warm, lush, progressive house…the aural equivalent to the sensation of have your feet on soft, warm sand on a beach ;) Michael and Levan have done a solid job here. The title is fitting, given the atmospheric, drifting vibe of the track. They’ve created a somewhat retro progressive sound…definitely quality stuff. Just click below to check out a preview!

Enjoy!

Deadmau5 and Xfer Sample Pack from Loopmasters

Deadmau5

We just added a seriously buzzworthy sample pack to our store…Deadmau5 and Xfer Records have delivered the goods for Loopmasters!

We have over 100 sample packs on our site, but I thought this one deserved a blog post.

As you may know, Xfer Records is a label started by Deadmau5 and his longtime friend and studio accomplice Steve Duda for their collaborations, such as BSOD, and WTF? with Tommy Lee and DJ Aero. These guys have set a new benchmark with their latest release: Loopmasters Presents: Deadmau5 Xfer.

An extensive amount of gear was used for the package – including circuit-bent and analogue drum machines, vintage analogue synths such as Moog and Arp, original acoustic drums and other sounds recorded in various professional studios. A variety of digital sound sources were used as well for creating new sounds, such as FFT synthesis, additive/subtractive synthesis, even custom DSP routines coded by Steve Duda in C++.

Here’s what Steve Duda had to say about the pack:

Despite the large amount of sample CDs out there, we saw a niche for one geared towards building blocks of EDM with a twist – this one is royalty-free, so it can be used in original productions with no fear of legal repercussions from the original artists who are often sampled on other CD libraries. We tried to make an assortment featuring a variety of sound sources, which aren’t overproduced so they can fit into a production work-flow without stamping their own flavor on a mix or being overly-recognizable.

I’ve included the two-minute preview for this pack below. Dig in!
