Not only does Pete Tong get the best DJs in the world to create stunning 2 hour mixes with non-stop pounding beats and epic build ups, but we also get to hear complete live sets from the best nightclubs in the world! There is honestly no better way to spend your late nights after the clubs close then by pumping up an Essential Mix to create your own personal house party! The Essential Mix series is a weekly radio show broadcasted on the BBC. The Show plays 2 hours of the world best Electronic Dance Music every Friday (3am-5am UK time). The standard format of the show is that a different special guest DJ, Group or Producer creates an uninterrupted Essential Mix in a variety of Electronic Dance Music styles. The Essential Mixes are primarily studio recorded in advance but during the summer months the show broadcasts live Mixes from all around the world including nightlife hotspot Ibiza! The Essential Mix program was created by Eddie Gordon in 1993 and is hosted by DJ Pete Tong. Since its creation The Essential Mix series has not only won a whole slew of awards but it has also significantly influenced and helped popularize the Electronic Dance Music scene through the world.
