I’ll start with the classics…

1. Gamemaster (Original Mix) – Lost Tribe [Hooj Choons] <– Paul Oakenfold’s Tranceport CD will stand forever as one of the classics of electronic dance music. Some may give Oakey a tough time these days, but none of us should forget what he’s done for the music. Those who remember Tranceport, will certainly remember the monster classic track "Gamemasters"!

2. Dream Universe (Original Mix) – C.M. [Hooj Choons] <– I’m gonna stay shamelessly on the jock straps of Oakenfold and Hooj Choons for a few of these track recommendations, so bear with me You may remember this epic, emotive tune from Oakey’s New York Global Underground, disc 2. That New York GU is the disc compilation that really launched me into an obsession with electronic music, so I’ve gotta show some respect here.

3. Day by Day (Red Jerry’s Smack the Bigot Up Dub) – Solar Stone [Hooj Choons] <– Another outstanding track from Oakenfold’s New York Global Underground release. This one was track five on disc one, very tight stuff.

4. Escape (Driving to Heaven)(Omid’s Full Vocal Mix) – 16B [Hooj Choons] <– This is the first track on disc one of Deep Dish’s Moscow Global Underground CDs…still sounding really good to me!

5. The Deep Edge (Original Mix) – MRE [Hooj Choons] <– Here’s a track off Sasha’s Ibiza Global Underground release (disc one)…classic stuff!

6. Slow Baseline Track (Original Mix) – Medway [Hooj Choon] <– Here’s another uber dope track from Hooj Choons, a slightly different mix of a tune that appears on disc one of Sasha’s Ibiza Global Underground mix.

7. Digiboy (Matthew Adams Remix) – Josel [Toes in the Sand Recordings] <– Toes in the Sand nails it again with this Digiboy release. I’m definitely feelin’ this remix from Matthew Adams.

8. Digiboy (DJ Tarkan and V-Sag Remix) – Josel [Toes in the Sand Recordings] <– Obviously, I’ve gotta give some props to my man Tarkan who’s now joined the RV DJ roster. …I think he and V-Sag could remix "Mary Had a Little Lamb" and turn it into a hit

9. Capcana (Original Mix) – Mihai Popoviciu [Level Non Zero] <– Here’s a phat piece of techy goodness I don’t know Mihai Popoviciu, but this track gets the job done and then some!

10. Strange (Original Mix) – Federico Monachesi [BIT Records Mexico] <– BIT Records just keeps putting it down. Here’s a nice little piece of prog for you.

It’s been a while since I wrote my last upload highlights post, and we’ve added some outstanding tunes to the site. These July 27th to August 9th highlights range from downtempo to house and trance, and they include newer material as well as classics. Enjoy!

1. Feet Don’t Fail (Spiritual Blessings Remix) – Patrick Dream feat Roy Davis Jr. [Mile End Records] <– Damn, I love good house music! Peep this preview out. It’s got an irresistable, soulful groove.

2. Moon Bathing (Original Mix) – Masque [Carica Deep] <– Damn, I also love good progressive house music I’m not familiar with Masque, but this track has a nice feel to it…full sounding, with a solid beat.

3. I Want to Be Free (Club Mix) – Salt Tank [Lost Language] <– Here’s a classic! You may remember it from Oakenfold’s Perfecto Presents Another World release.

4. Part Deux (Jamie Stevens Remix) – Baggage Handlers feat Voicerock [Music for Vinyl] <– I like this track’s nasty, keep-you-out-of-kilter rhythm.

5. Late Night Funk (Original Mix) – Rob Pearson [Evasive Digital] <– Smooth, house music to caress the eardrums and soothe the soul

6. Red Dust (V-Sag Mix) – 4Mal [Bellarine Recordings] <– V-Sag’s ability to consistently put together quality tracks is seriously impressive. In my opinion, he never seems to have a bad day at the office (…or I guess I should say at the studio).

7. Cold Trap (Ladies on Mars Remix) – Violet [Xela Digital] <– This track definitely has that quirky-tight Xela Digital feel.

8. Pleasure Yacht (Original Mix) – Squash 84 [Only Records] <– Nice example of electro-infused prog

9. Hop (Original Mix) – Anibal Morais Ferreira [Aenaria Chill] <– Gotta respect the chilled out vibes from Aenaria

10. Universal Nation (Original Mix) – Push [Bonzai Music] <– Here’s another epic trance tune from Bonzai Music…classic old skool stuff. I’m really glad we’ve got Bonzai on board.

Solid Mix from a Cool RV Customer

As I mentioned in my last post, it’s been challenging for us to launch and manage RV; but it’s also been incredibly rewarding. One of the benefits of my job has been that it’s allowed me to meet a lot of new and interesting people who are really into the music….from Dubai to Buenos Aires and New Zealand to New York City. I’ve personally emailed a number of our customers or helped them if they were having technical issues. In so doing, I’ve gotten to know some really cool people. On a couple of occasions, customers have taken the time to prepare a mix and send it to me, just to give me a better feel for their artistic take on things. I really dig this! After listening to someone’s mix, I feel like I have a better sense for who they are, even if we’ve never met in person. It’s also cool because sometimes the mixes have tracks from our site, and this gives me a renewed appreciation for what we’re doing at RV. When I hear our tracks put together in a quality mix, it helps me remember that we’re not just selling widgets; we’re selling music that can really move people and help them tap into sublime feelings.

Anyway, the reason why I’m making this post is because I just received a mix from one of our customers named Tom Beltor, and I wanted to take a second to give him a shout out. I also wanted to share Tom’s mix with our blog readers because I think it’s quality stuff! Tom is from Berlin, and he’s made some appearances on online radio shows. The mix he sent me is a dreamy progressive soundscape. It starts out on a mellow note and weaves its way through a killer tracklist…well sequenced and well mixed…my kinda stuff For those interested, I’ve given the tracklist for the mix below.
