Straight from the Gut – Eddie B’s First Post

My man Sam made a post with the title, “Open a download store, easy right?” I must say his post definitely resonated with me. It’s almost never easy to open and grow a business, and download stores are no exception to the rule…at least that’s my take on it. The process of launching and growing Resonant Vibes has been, without question, one of the more challenging experiences in my life. That said, I must confess that it’s also been one of my most fulfilling experiences!!! :)

As some of you reading this post already know, RV is currently managed by three people, me, Craig, and Sam. This summer we had some assistance from an intern, Ellie, who definitely helped moved RV forward. (Among other things, she was the muscle behind our recent effort to revise the release dates of our tracks.)

Ellie’s stint at RV comes to a close this week :( …so we all went out for drinks tonight to celebrate the end of a productive and enjoyable summer :) After a few drinks, I came back home to finish uploading the new tracks. As I was listening to previews and posting the remaining tracks for the week, I was struck with the feeling of appreciation for what we do. Yeah, it’s hard work, but damn electronic music is good stuff!!! …good enough to make it worth all of the sweat…good enough to make me say I can’t think of anything I’d rather do than work on RV to promote the music and continue to be a part of its development :)

This is my first post, but you can expect many more to come. We’ve had the pleasure of dealing with a bunch of amazing customers who love this music the way we do, and I hope this blog can help us do an even better job of staying connected.

So, until the next episode, this is Eddie B sayin’ peeaaace out :)

…Oh yeah…I was listening to “Strings of Life (Original Mix)” on Vapour while I wrote most of this…..solid track!

Open a download store, easy right?

If only!

July 3rd, 2006 this year saw the site turn one. It’s been a great time to take the site to where it is now, but it’s also clear that we have a long, long way still to go.

The thing that we are focused on, is getting there. We truely believe in what we’re doing, and we think that you know that. Granted we don’t have a huge catalog yet compaired to other sites, but our prices and format are good.

There are so many problems to work around when you undertake this sort of venture. I personally have the up most respect for all the other stores in this space because, quite frankly, they are on it. We know what’s involved in the process of running a site like this, and it’s not for the faint of heart.

It’s also clear that in any emerging market (the download space) that there is not a great deal of information out there on how to do things. I think it’s a question of doing your research, being smart with the decision making, and offering a service of value.

We know we have some areas to fix, and we are in the process of doing so. Without giving too much away I can say that we’re working on updating the release dates to display the real release date, and not the dates added to the site. Our featured DJ page, is really coming soon, honestly,… even thought the placeholder has been up for a looong time. We will be expanding our catalog, bringing you more DJs, more samples, and some “top secret” development is happening also. RV Digital has been on the back burner of late, but we have got a new label manager to get it moving andget the releases out there.

All in all, we’re trying to get a lot done to imrove the way the site works, and how you can get the most out of your time spent logged on.

Like I mentioned in my first post, we all hope that this blog brings everyone closer to the RV team, and gives you a way for us to hear your opinion.
Thanks for stopping by.
