Lobotomy Records Artwork…This stuff cracks me up.

Lobotomy Records

Ok, so I’m not sure what the deal is with the artwork for Lobotomy Records, but I do know that it cracks me the hell up! A couple days ago, I got a promo email for their Absence of Essence release – which by the way is bound to be smoking hot with remixes from Pig and Dan, Habersham, Jason Short, and Rob Dowell. …so anyway, there’s this brain wearing headphones and looking like it’s on the edge of committing suicide. That’s some off-the-wall funny sh#$.

I’m not sure what the suggestion is in the above image…I’m not even sure what the suggestion is in the label’s logo (below).

Here we just see the brain with headphones on, running away with its chicken legs…with two added details…first, we see a few lines that give the sense of rapid motion, and we see the two drops of sweat, a nice touch to let you know the brain’s working hard to get away :) I’ve thought about this a little, and I have a my own theory about what the image means. My guess is that Lobotomy is telling us their tunes are meant to mangle your brain – kinda the way that a Lobotomy would – so they see brains running away from the devastation in fear.

I tried to get some confirmation from my man Habersham about the meaning of the logo, but he wouldn’t spill the beans. All he said was, "yeah well, nothing says Lobotomy more than a brain on chicken legs….right?  …. :-) ….that’s all the explanation I’ve got…"   …so I guess I’ll have to live with my theory being unconfirmed…which is probably all the better…I’ll just keep enjoying the killer Lobotomy tracks and keep being amused by the label’s imagery.

Launch of Fevah Records…

Fevah Records LaunchI wanted to write a post to let our blog readers know about the launch of a new label called "Fevah Records." In the label’s own words, here’s some of what they’re about: "Over the coming months, Fevah Records will be slowly introducing the next era of production maestros and future stars, continuing to serve up a selection of huge hard trance and pure trance anthems, heavy pounding twisted hoover seamed servings of hard house…but also with the coming of age and the ever changing tastes and needs of clubbers across the globe, this new era will see the Fevah productions team adding to its arsenal four new genres, breaks, electro, tech and a new experimental drum n breaks hybrid sound." If you want the full scoop on the label, you should check out their MySpace page at http://myspace.com/fevah_records.

If you’ve been reading our blog for a while, you probably know I’m not a connoisseur of hard house or hard trance. The reason why I’m writing this post is because our contact for dealing with Fevah Records is a cool cat by the name of UglyDave (also our contact for Scum Records) ;) In addition to having a nickname that immediately makes you grin, UglyDave has the sort of personality that lets you know he’s hella serious and passionate about his tunes! …which I respect, even for genres that don’t always make it into my upload highlights posts.

The first release we added for the Fevah Records label is "My Rules." It’s live now on our site, and I’ve made it easy for you to check out the previews for all of the new Fevah Records tracks. Just click HERE to load them as a playlist in our media player ;)

Enjoy!
