rv_cast 010 Mixed by Savas Pascalidis

rv_cast 010 Mixed by Savas Pascalidis | Resonant VibesThis weeks podcast is mixed by Savas Pascalidis. In 1999 he founded his own record label Lasergun Records, as the perfect platform for his special brand of futuristic funked out and stripped down techy disco grooves. Ten years later on and his new label project called Sweatshop has been launched with the inaugural release by him called “Deep Inside Your Eyes”.
.
For his podcast he delivers a grooving techno workout with what I’d call a Detroit-meets-Berlin approach. With everything from surface noise to the occasion drift and featuring producers like Omar S., Carl Craig, Kenny Larkin and Robert Hood it goes a long way to capturing the vibe of quality techno.
.
A long time DJ of 20 years, Savas started his career as a House/Disco DJ in southern Germany in the 80’s. He became a resident in what could be regarded as some of the most influential and forward-looking clubs in Germany during that era. In 1990/91 he hosted Stuttgart’s first techno nights and helped pioneer a sound that went on to dominate floors all over europe. It was also during the 90′s that he built up his reputation for delivering non-nonsense minimal, Detroit, house, and techno “rave” sets.
.
As a producer Savas has been putting out tracks since the mid 90′s. With a string of releases on DJ Hells’ seminal techno label International DeeJay Gigolo Records, he’s also seen been released on other important labels like 909 Pervertions, Loriz Sounds, UFO, Mote-Evolver, Figure SPC, and his own Lasergun and Sweatshop imprints. All of this simply lends testimony to his ability as a producer, and has helped cement his reputation as one of the driving forces in European techno.
.
I hope you enjoy the mix!

Paco Osuna – Live at Club4 (3rd Anniversary)

Here’s a great mix that I’ve been jamming out to lately. It’s Paco Osuna playing live at Club4…just another example of the high quality sort of tunes you can find in the RV network.

This set takes me back to that amazing Save the Cannibals party Paco headlined in New York City! There’s just something about his style that really gets the job done for me.

I also get the sense that Paco’s reputation has been on the rise this year – not just in Spain (his home) but all over the world…I know I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more of his music ;)

Enjoy the mix!

Without further ado, we’re very pleased to finally post the marathon recording from the Varsity All-Stars party in Chicago! This is the complete recording of Jason Patrick, Anja Schneider, and Mike Khoury playing back-to-back sets.
.
Quite a bit has already been said about the event and you can find photos, video and Hoj’s set from the party in previous blog posts. But I did want to tell you that you’re in for quite a treat!
.
The set is just over a whopping five-and-a-half hours long, and it’s a continuous recording of Jason warming up for Anja who hands it off to Mike to close the evening. For people who are interested: Anja’s set starts around 1h:18m and ends at around 3h:45m. The recording quality is 192 Kbps, and the full download is a little under 500 Mb.
.
So from all of us at RV and our friends at listed Productions – Happy Listening!
.
[To get the complete set be sure to right-click "Save Target As" or on a Mac control-click and "Save File As..." on the Download link. Unfortunately the file is too big for our in-line player to play it all the way through.]

Tony Lionni RA Podcast

Tony Lionni RA 157It’s Saturday so I figured it would be cool to share another nice mix with you.
.
This one comes from Tony Lionni, and it’s the 157th episode of the Resident Advisor podcast. RA just keeps getting the job done, week after week.
.
I checked in on the RA forums, and it seems there are some mixed feelings about this episode, but I’ve been digging it for the past few weeks. It’s original, and it takes some interesting artistic twists.
.
If you’re not familiar with Tony Lionni, he’s a house and techno producer. He was born in Liverpool, and he’s living in Berlin now (of course). His roots are actually in hip hop and funk, but he’s been producing electronic music like a man possessed for the past year or so. He’s already had releases on labels like Versatile, Aesthetic Audio, Wave, Mule, and Figure.
.
For those interested, I’ve posted a tracklist for this mix below.
.
1. “Mystery of Nazerus” – Marco Bernardi
2. “Sleeper” – Jimpster
3. “Where Are You Now” – Andre Lodemann
4. “The Brain” – Tony Lionni
5. “Letting Go” – The Chain
6. “The Chain” – Geo
7. “Hot Knives” – Slam
